Title:

    Metagraphics: Impact papers from SIGGRAPH/TOG and their interconnections

Presenter(s)/Author(s):

Abstract:

    We analyze the evolution of computer graphics via the interconnections between all SIGGRAPH and TOG publications. Using a graph of all citations, we developed a new scoring algorithm (somewhat related to Google’s PageRank) to measure the papers’ historical and current “relevance” or popularity. We discuss some of the most relevant and seminal works in the conference’s history, show how the popularity of different papers, authors, and areas evolve over time, and present several anecdotes and inside stories provided by the authors of many of these papers.
