SIGGRAPH 1980: Courses

Conference:

Overview:

    From The Tutorial Chairmen

The SIGGRAPH 80 Tutorials play an important role in this conference as they have in past SIGGRAPH conferences. They offer newcomers the opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of Computer Graphics, practitioners the continuing education in the latest graphics techniques, and established members of our field the opportunity to be brought up to date on the most recent developments in Computer Graphics.

The Tutorials are a result of the response from our attendees in previous years. Thus, we bring you five tutorials from last year: Introduction to Computer Graphics, Introduction to Raster Graphics, Advanced Raster Graphics, ComputerAided Design, and Animation Graphics. We also bring you three new tutorials. Two of these reflect the expansion of Computer Graphics and its relationship with other disciplines such as Psychology and Graphic Design: UserInterfaces to Graphics Systems and Graphic Design and Information Graphics. The third new tutorial is covering an area that has not previously had the attention it deserves; graphics capabilities of personal computers are discussed in Low Cost Computer Graphics.

We hope you like this year s selection of tutorials. We also hope to hear from you regarding improvements to existing as well as suggestions for new tutorials so that SIGGRAPH can continue to keep you informed of current developments in Computer Graphics.
