Abstract:

As 3D technology expands beyond entertainment, artists in animation, VFX, and gaming have unprecedented opportunities in industries like fashion, e-commerce, product design, architecture, and industrial visualization. However, many struggle to identify viable career paths and translate their skills for hiring managers unfamiliar with entertainment pipelines. This presentation will explore how 3D artists can successfully transition into new industries by: – Identifying where their skills in modeling, texturing, lighting, and simulation align with non-entertainment roles. – Understanding the most in-demand 3D workflows in fashion, footwear, automotive, and product visualization. – Adapting portfolios and resumes to resonate with hiring managers outside of film and games. – Learning industry-specific terminology to bridge the gap between entertainment and commercial applications. – Examining real-world examples of artists who have successfully made the leap. As countless factors are reshaping the entertainment industry, 3D artists must rethink their career trajectories. This session will provide actionable steps to help them future-proof their skills and tap into exciting new career paths beyond entertainment.
