Abstract:
Today, with the rapid development of three-dimensional software, to utilize virtual space for aiding design and pre-visualization has been a general architecture manipulation process. Just like the Expedition Everest in Disney World Animal Kingdom, FL, it is a proper example that pushes digital design to real construction [Schoolfield 2006]. However, with the growing powerful features of 3D software nowadays, designers begin to request the detail of visualization. Such as global illumination rendering, particle system (ex: fire, fog), and vivid lighting effect. Even major design studios already have render farm system and Mental Ray license, to make a pre-visualization animation about a Disneyland style darkride still takes long time, especially in an E-ticket ride like Pirates of Caribbean. In this twelve minutes long ride, the 1k resolution pre visualization animation with 180 stages lights in the facility building needs 140 hours to render out.
