Shuto Takashita is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Tokyo, where he studies under Prof. Masahiko Inami. Rooted in his experiences with VRSNS, he pursues novel interactions with non-human-shaped avatars. His research interests include the control and haptic feedback of non-homologous and extended bodies, avatar culture in VRSNS, and real-time, user-driven transitions between virtual body forms. His VR demo, Mechanical Brain Hacking, which enables real-time body editing, was awarded the Best Prize at the XR Creative Award in Japan—selected from over 100 submissions. He continues to investigate the limits of human bodily plasticity and to expand the possibilities of physical expression across both virtual and real-world settings.
