Abstract:

Building compelling, realistic virtual people is an intriguing, multidisciplinary, technical challenge. As we meet that challenge and move toward a generation of believable digital characters, novel forms of personal interaction and human-machine communication will become routine. This panel examines the next generation of lifelike virtual humans and discusses the social, entertainment, psychological, and theological puzzles that they present.
