Abstract:

We present a method to simplify intrinsic triangulations defined on the surface of 3D objects. The key idea is a novel error metric based on curvature transport with a procedure to remove vertices intrinsically by manipulating edge lengths. We demonstrate many applications in accelerated geometric computing and mesh hierarchies.
