Abstract:
Recent progress in Japanese CIM includes the integration of computer graphics, database management systems, local area networks, robotics and software engineering technology. This panel discusses advanced CAD/ CAM/CAT (computer-aided testing) and FMS (flexible manufacturing systems) available in Japan. Panel members from representative CIM-related companies in Japan describe both current capabilities and future trends. Several typical application examples also are presented to illustrate the effects of the newest CIM technology.
