Abstract:

The walk-on-boundary Monte Carlo method naturally solves elliptic PDEs with various boundary conditions (Dirichlet, Neumann, Robin, and mixed) in both interior and exterior domains. Its high theoretical and algorithmic similarities to light transport simulation allow the application of advanced rendering techniques such as bidirectional estimators and multiple importance sampling.
