SIGGRAPH 2025: Art Papers
Conference:
Overview:
Art Papers provide a space for aesthetic expression, critical reflection, technical ideation, and cultural intervention in emerging technology and its effects. Alongside the other Art venues, Art Papers at SIGGRAPH can serve as inspiration, early warning system, site of memory, and nexus for change. Building upon a recent Digital Arts Community online exhibition of the same name, this year’s Art Papers will focus on The Future of Reality: Post-Truths, Digital Twins, and Doppelgängers. Today the boundaries between the “real” and the “virtual” are increasingly blurred, as physical space and virtual space boundaries overlap, space design becomes generative and democratized, tangible objects are realized across analog and digital modalities, and lived experience itself is both participatory and reactive. Recent developments in artificial intelligence further complicate our notions of agency, authority, authenticity, and the workings of power. How are artists, designers, critics, technologies and activists engaging with these new realities?
