Stories:

This project was originally proposed by a graduate student at the University of Oregon and it was accepted into the SIGGRAPH Tomorrow’s Realities program.  But the student graduated and left and did not do anything on the project.  Ken O’Connell asked Bonnie Mitchell, a one year Visiting Professor, to take on the project which she did with the help of students.  The project was a big success but the noise in the room was so loud that no one could hear the prompts of the automated photobooth.  A quick run to the store to buy speakers solved the problem.  By today’s standards, this booth was low tech but there were digital photo booths in 1993 so it was quite innovative at the time.  The graduate student that abandoned the project did not submit the proper paperwork so the project did not appear in the program.  But it was shown at the conference, and people loved it.
