Abstract:

Ink painting, a revered traditional Eastern art form, has gained prominence in 3D design due to demand from the gaming and animation industries. However, translating the subtle effects of 2D brush strokes into 3D remains challenging. Current research largely focuses on rendering techniques for simulating ink effects, with less attention to design methods for 3D ink paintings. In our paper, we showcase three 3D ink works that focus on the core element of ink painting—the “brush stroke”—and its translation into 3D space. replicate these features in 3D.
