Description:

The goal is to explore “sense of place” by making computer models based on the physical world. These models are made in a Verite tradition of working in uncontrolled environments with minimum disturbance to them. The first phase of an 18-month project is presented here: using a fisheye camera, a single point rangefinder, existing maps, and common sense knowledge about the world (rather than Al), a virtual dome is created and then “hand-crafted” to a more accurate spatial representation.
