Title:

    Touch, watch, and listen to the sound; visualized two-dimensional plane vibration and its sound

Presenter(s)/Author(s):

Abstract:

    Do you know how a plane of material makes a sound? One person may imagine that the whole plane moves quickly back and forth. Another may imagine that only a part of it vibrates. You will be surprised when you first use our system! As a wave induces an undulating pattern on a string, a bending vibration induced by three vibrators propagates on the plane and a beautiful two dimensional pattern appears on the diaphragm. A sound that is emitted from each part of the plane interferes with the other sounds, and the total sound obtains beam-like directivity.
