Abstract:

This paper optimizes toolpath continuity for extrusion-based surface model fabrication. We introduce “one–path patch” (OPP) that can be traversed along one path. We propose a bottom-up OPP merging procedure to decompose the surface model into a minimal number of OPPs and to generate the “as-continuous-as-possible” (ACAP) toolpath.
