Abstract:

How can we help storytellers craft memorable experiences for their audiences? Drawing on ideas from cognitive science and literary theory, we offer a novel computational framework: optimizing animations with respect to the experience of a “simulated” audience member. This simple framework naturally captures several interesting storytelling elements from first principles.
