Susanne Schmidt works as a postdoc researcher in the Human-Computer Interaction group at the University of Hamburg, Germany. She studied Computer Science and received her PhD in 2020. Her PhD thesis explores the concept of Blended Spaces, which allow users to seamlessly traverse the entire reality-virtuality continuum within the same physical environment. Evolving from the social interactions implemented for Blended Spaces, Susanne’s current research focuses on multimodal human-agent interaction with a particular emphasis on incorporating human behavioral patterns into intelligent virtual agents. This includes the simulation of human imperfection, verbal and nonverbal mimicry as well as awareness of agents towards their physical and virtual environment.
