    Fascinated by music even before picking up the sticks in 1984, Simon Ayton has spent decades exploring,drumming, music and sound making technology. Trained in instrument making and repair, Simon is an avid DIYer building instruments, audio software and electronic devices. A student of jazz legend Joe Morello, Simon’s journey has seen him play in pop and metal bands in Australia, produce ambient soundtrack work in U.S.A, electronica in London, high energy punk in Berlin where he lived and play with a folk quartet performing on Spanish TV. As a recordist and composer, he has contributed to film, radio, TV and theatre works as well as numerous artist releases and solo albums. Since 2008 as V-Drums & Percussion Product Manager at Roland Australia working closely with the V-Drums design team in Japan, Simon contributes, sounds, kits and content for many Roland drum products and loves sharing his musical passion.
