Bio

Michael Collins is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Penn State School of Visual Arts where he coordinates and teaches curriculum in digital art and design for the online Digital Multimedia Design program. Collins designs online learning technology and is an advocate for the use of open-source technology in online education. Mr. Collins has produced a wide breadth of creative work including interactive art installations, web and product design, concept design, 3D animation, and operates a furniture design studio. His most recent software project, called OER Schema, helps bring digital teaching pedagogy to the semantic web and his recent publications include a book chapter in The Routledge Handbook of Remix Studies and Digital Humanities. He has been a long-time volunteer for ACM SIGGRAPH, starting in 2006 as a student volunteer.
