Laura Cinti is a research-based artist at C-LAB whose practice intersects science, technology and visual storytelling through experimentation and field research. More recently, her focus has shifted to biodiversity loss, using creative and technological approaches to rethink our relationship with endangered species. Her artworks have been exhibited internationally at venues including the Centre Wallonie Bruxelles (Paris), Ars Electronica (Linz), Museo Nazionale d’Arte Electronica (Milan), Torino Foto Festival, MAXXI National Museum (Rome), Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven), Espace Fondation EDF (Paris), the National Theatre & Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Maison Européenne de la Photographie (Paris), Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (Seville), and The Royal Institute of Great Britain (London). Cinti has authored papers in journals such as Leonardo (2025) and Antennae: The Journal of Nature in Visual Culture (2024). She has also been invited to contribute articles to The Conversation (2024), Plastir: La Revue Transdisciplinaire de Plasticité Humaine (2024), and the Journal of the Cycad Society of South Africa (2023). Her work has been widely covered in major media outlets, including The Times, BBC, The Independent, National Geographic, Smithsonian Magazine, Wired, CNET, Dagens Nyheter, and BBC’s Have I Got News for You. Between May and June 2024, her research received over 770 media mentions across international platforms such as Euro Weekly and Corriere della Sera. Her work has also been featured in academic and literary publications, including Next (Michael Crichton), Cactus (Dan Torre), Arte Transgenica. La Vita È Il Medium (Mario Savini), and Sculpture Now (Anna Moszynska). Cinti has been a Research Fellow at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, and the recipient of multiple awards, including the NOVA_XX Award (as part of the COAL Prize), MUSE Digital Art Award, Roots & Seeds Production Award and Designers & Artists 4 Genomics Award. She holds a PhD from the Slade School of Fine Art, where she worked in an interdisciplinary capacity with University College London’s Centre for Advanced Biomedical Imaging. She received an MA in Interactive Media: Critical Theory & Practice (Distinction) from Goldsmiths College, University of London, and a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (First Class Honours) from the University of Hertfordshire.
