Kanoko graduated from Osaka University School of Law valedictorian and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School. She is a founder and the CEO of Mediva Inc., a consulting company specialized in healthcare and the COO of Medical Corporation Platanus, a healthcare provider arm of Mediva. She previously worked as a partner at McKinsey & Company in Japan and the US. She has served on numerous governmental committees, and is on the boards of directors including Shiseido Japan and Santen Pharmaceutical, and a member of the Japan Advisory Board at Harvard Business School and the Management Council at Osaka University.
