Joon Yang Kim
Bio:
He is the author of Animation, Alchemy of Images (2001), and Empire of Images: Animation on the Japanese Islands (2006) awarded by Japan Foundation. Each book was selected as a “Best Academic Book” by the South Korean government. He is Associate Editor of Animation: An Interdisciplinary Jour – nal (Sage Publications) and Visiting Researcher of the Institute for Japanese Studies, Seoul National University. Involved in Cinema Digital Seoul_Film Festival and many other film festivals at home and abroad, he made a crucial contribution to finding a long-missing film print of South Korea’s first animated feature Hong Gil Dong.
