Iain A. Anderson is a Principal Investigator with the Auckland Bioengineering Institute at the University of Auckland. He has over 70 journal papers, 3 books and 9 US Patents. His laboratory investigates electroactive polymer technology for sensing, actuation, and energy harvesting. Iain is also a founder and director for StretchSense Ltd., a Biomimetics Lab spin-out company that was launched in 2012. StretchSense produces soft elastomer sensors for monitoring human motion. For his efforts in developing and commercializing electroactive polymer technology, he was awarded the Royal Society of New Zealand’s Pickering Medal (2016).
