Ferdinand Ehrhardt was born 1999 in Dresden, Germany, and grew up next to a forest. When he was given money for his first PC, the forest wasn’t so exciting any longer and the world of cinematic storytelling opened up to him. Through working on short films with his sister Annegret Schiller and Till Giermann, he fell in love with the magic of animation and, luckily for him, he was able to begin his studies for this very subject at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in 2018. There he was able to learn how to direct while working on different projects and techniques. The short film “Obervogelgesang” (2021), which he co-directed with Elias Weinberger, was nominated for the German Short Film Award. He completed his studies in 2024 with the stop-motion short “DETLEV”.
