    Frontier Talk: Improving Patient Care, Mental Hygiene, and Bad Habits With AI Powered Video Games

Presenter(s)/Author(s):

Abstract:

    We are thrilled to present a groundbreaking talk on harnessing video game design to transform mental health and hygiene. This collaboration brings together an AI researcher and audio engineer, a Doctor of Nursing from the OHSU Nursing Master’s Program, and a UCLA Game Labs researcher and adjunct professor. Our focus is on gamifying the process of improving mental health and addressing microbehaviors that impact well-being. By integrating AI and machine learning, we create immersive game narratives that guide players through personalized journeys to better mental health. These games are being developed to use AI-powered NPCs to offer real-time feedback and support, making the process of mental health improvement engaging and effective. Our innovative approach aims to revolutionize how individuals interact with mental health tools, providing a dynamic and supportive environment for personal growth and emotional intelligence development.
