    “Is the VFX world inevitably moving from CPU to GPU for rendering & compute?”

Presenter(s):

Description:

    As SIGGRAPH attendees grapple with aging infrastructure (much that predates the pandemic) they are at a critical technological inflection point – AI and GPU rendering are accelerating rapidly, should they invest in just GPU technology moving forward, stick with more flexible CPU farms or strike a sort of hybrid approach? Whether they’re buying new infrastructure or investing in cloud resources the questions are just as valid. Our session will help attendees understand the pros and cons of each approach, the economic considerations, where we are in the GPU adoption curve and insights from those that have already made a migration.
