GAME OVER / This is an audiovisual performance. Shown on the back of the stage is the six columns of Tetris game being played by the performers. Slowly falling down Tetris blocks and certain combination that are forming the rows are in sync with the corresponding notes. Despite the fact that the blocks are given to the players at random, to a certain extend of the algorithm of this composition allows, each player has freedom to form the shape of the row in order to make desired harmony. The question remains for the player is that how well do you want to score or composition of harmonies made of such blocks.
IMPROVISION / Improvision, audiovisual performance, is a make-up word with improvisation and vision. As the title suggests, free flow of graphic image creates the synergy with improvised music. Departing form the predecessors’ methodology of combining video, both image and improvised music composition is spontaneously created on the stage. This piece, in particular, introduces Tacit Group’s application of projection mapping technology.
CONVEX COMPOSER / This is an interactive audiovisual installation. Two geometric algorithms, convex hull and clustering, are used for making a unique composition system. Users put small metallic objects on the table, and they generate sounds. When an object is far from others, it repeats a sound alone. When an object is close to others, they make a group and play sounds in turn. This work is a part of Tacit Group’s exhibition ‘neighbors[i]’.
