Abstract:

In 1999, computer and video games earned a total of $7.4 billion in the United States. In the same year, gross feature-film box office revenue totalled $7.5 billion. This panel examined the history and present state of game development. It focused on how increased computing power, metadesign, media convergence, and online access will change the face of this industry. And it examined the moral obligations that developers face as they select content.
