Message
We are honored to be able to welcome visitors to this Exhibition of Computer Art- ACM/SIGGRAPH Traveling Art Show 1985.
ACM/SIGGRAPH, the Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques of the Association for Computing Machinery, sponsors an international conference in America every summer that is attended by thousands of scientists, engineers, designers, artists and business people from around the world. As part of ACM/SIGGRAPH’s commitment to visual excellence and in the belief that art is traditionally one of the most dramatic expressions of technology, the SIGGRAPH ’85 conference in San Francisco included a large showing of high quality artworks created with computer graphics and interactive computer techniques.
More than 75 of the artworks shown at SIGGRAPH ’85 have been included in the ACM/SIGGRAPH Traveling Art Show 1985, making it possible to introduce a wide variety of works utilizing diverse techniques and styles to the general public around the world. We believe that the Traveling Art Show contains some of this year’s best and most interesting examples of how artists and designers can apply computer graphics technology to create things of beauty and grace.
We hope that all visitors to this exhibition will find it enjoyable and educational. It is especially satisfying to know that these artworks will be viewed by many students and young people who, we hope, will be inspired by what they see to investigate and study this field further.
We wish to thank the many people whose hard work made this exhibition possible.
