SIGGRAPH 2025

Ms. Hsiu-Mei Chang is the sole remaining practitioner and artisan of pith paper craft in Taiwan. She inherited her mother’s vocation—her mother being a skilled pith preparation artisan during the Japanese colonial period, establishing one of the pioneering pith paper factories in Hsinchu. Currently serving as the head of the TONG CAO Cultural & Arts Studio, Ms. Chang is dedicated to preserving the pith paper craft. She has long been involved in educational outreach and cultural promotion activities related to pith paper traditions. Her exceptional craftsmanship, practical experience, and extensive resources within the pith paper industry will provide substantial support for the successful execution of this visionary project.
