Follow the Ship (2025) is a generative video work emerging from Matthew Attard’s project I WILL FOLLOW THE SHIP. It explores the convergence of heritage and digital processes as a form of contemporary digital drawing. The work integrates eye-tracking datasets from historical maritime graffiti found in Malta with algorithmic generative systems, questioning how digital media can reframe cultural memory and visual language. As one of several outcomes from the project, Follow the Ship reflects on themes of heritage, metaphor, the maritime environment, and the digital present, offering a layered meditation on perception, history, and technological reinterpretation.
