Abstract Line Drawings from 2D Images / Line drawing is a simple but effective means of shape depiction. This research presents a novel scheme for automatically generating line drawings from 2D images, aiming to facilitate effective visual communication. To achieve the goal, this technique imitates the human line drawing process and controls level of abstraction by adjusting line properties. Publication info.: Pacific Graphics 2007 Coauthors: Henry Kang (University of Missouri, St. Louis), Yunjin Lee (Ajou University), and Seungyong Lee (POSTECH)

Directional Stippling of Photographs / This research presents a novel method to convert a photograph into a directional stipple illustration, which is often adopted by artists for portraits in newspapers and magazines. The stipple dots and hatching lines are placed to follow dominant feature directions while keeping the regular spacing between them. Publication info.: submitted (under review) Coauthors: Yunjin Lee (Ajou University), Henry Kang (University of Missouri, St. Louis), and Seungyong Lee (POSTECH)
